Raising Arizona... I love the way it takes about ten minutes until you get to them.
If it takes 10 minutes to get to the titles, then you're talking about pre-title sequences. Actually, title sequences are few and far between nowadays. Catch Me If You Can was a throw back to the way they used to make them. Mini films using animation, disolves, etc. In the old days there were companies and individuals that specialized in titles. Saul Bass was one of the greatest designers of them. (Walk On The Wild Side was one of his best). At the time it was considered to be better then the film itself.

Independence Day : Just love the sound of the titles freezing then breaking up and blowing over your head. Great sound demo. :)

Also in that category

Toy Story 2

And how could everyone skip the entire opening sequence of Fellowship of the Ring.

2001: A Space Odyssey
Fargo
Se7en
To Kill A Mockingbird
Contact
Almost anything by Saul Bass :)

While I agree that FOTR has a great opening, I don't consider that to be a title sequence.

North by Northwest is still my favorite, though Se7en and Panic Room are right up there. You can't beat a classic pulsing Bernard Herrmann score to really get you juiced in a title sequence.

My favorite for years was Total Recall until I saw Fight Club. For me, music has always been the driving factor. Both had great opening tunes.

Others (not necessarily for the music):

>Miller's Crossing - Again, the music makes the sequence.
>Malcolm X - One of the most daring I've seen.
>Spartacus
>Conan the Barbarian - Basil Poledouris is awesome!
>Almost Famous - One of the most original ideas.
>12 Monkeys - Great accordion!
>GoodFellas
>Do the Right Thing - Excellent use of Public Enemy.
>The Thing (1982) - A great hommage to the original film & 1000X creepier.

I really liked the title sequence to "InnerSpace".

There's a lot of crystaline structures and light flashes. As the camera moves around, you get the feeling you are already inside a group of nerve cells or some other structure in the human body, but then the camera pans all the way out, and you realize you were just in an ICE CUBE in a glass.

And I like the movie too!

Come on, what about the Super Mario Bros. movie? The opening music from the first game always gets me smiling.

More of my favorites:
Memento
Fargo
Fight Club
Panic Room
The Ring:D
