Looking for a sub under $600 and have narrowed it down to:
    Adire Audio Dharman
    Adire Audio Shiva
    HSU VTF-2
    Opinions?

The Shiva is not a subwoofer, it's a driver. Maybe you mean the Rava?
What's the sub for, how loud do you want to get, how big is the room? For most setups, I think I'd go with the Dharman.

Are you looking for a powered sub under $600? I should have asked that first. I think for most general usage, you'd be looking at the Dharman ($510 for the next two weeks or so) or the SVS 20-39PC ($779), they're the closest in tuning points.
You won't hear much about the Dharman on this board, but it's the real deal.

The VTF-2 at $450ish delivered would be a tough price point to beat. The VEL ct150 is available from onecall for $499 + shipping on sale now.the adire woofs look to be solid cost/performance deals too...typical for adire.
HSU has the TN20+150w amp for $600(ish) now too...that would be another good option.
The paradigm pw2200 is a great sub...but I'm doubting you'd get a local dealer much under $700 for it(many demand retail).

    Steve,
I have. I dont see how Adire can sell this unit for the price they charge, surely there is little profit in it.
It is a great performer and the cosmetics are second to none.
There are other great subs available too but I can address only a select few of them that I have had personal experience with.
At this price point for a powered unit, I personally have heard none better than the Dharman for home theater use.
    Just my opinion.

    Kelly,
It's a bit over budget, but our VERY popular 20-39PC is available (two only) for $675, on our B-Stock page. Just FYI. I suspect they'll be gone today or tomorrow. They are like new (minor scratches only in this case, maybe not even that) and fully warranteed.
If keeping it under $600 is critical you have some good suggestions already.
There's one 16-46PC (rare!) up as well but it's even more over budget.

I forgot about the B-stock stuff. That one Ron mentioned is an incredible deal, if you can stretch the budget.
Let me say that, being a strong proponent of both companies, and genuinely liking the principals involved, I don't see myself getting involved in any "vs." threads. Just thought I'd mention the Dharman to those who might otherwise dismiss it out-of-hand, and who wouldn't be as familiar with its virtues as folks in the DIY world.
I feel there's no reason to purchase a sub from anyone other than SVS or Adire (or Hsu). Choices are good. [IMG]
