I had a hard time getting the flat black coat even, I had a gallon of KILZ house primer left over from painting my house that I used for first coat its white very exspensive primer, that was my mistake I think, it looks good though I like it alot,
Ok Guys. Prime till you have a even coat with no grain showing. I see the coats could have been thin coats. I put my paint on thick as I can without it running. I use a roller and get the black paint on thick. 2 coats then liner spray do not go over this as in the photo or you will not be happy.Trust me.
Put more primer on then spray.
Email me if you have more problems. I just finished 4 sets of 1.0 cabinets today all look great.
i did basically the same thing to my double advents a couple of months ago, except i used granite-finish spray paint. its black texture paint with gray and white flecks in it. it looks great!
that is the problem. You can not get in ton thick enough to fill the end grain. If you can get a samll can of cheap black paint.Latex is just fine. Sand the cabinet and brush on the Laxet paint or use a roller and but it on thick as you ca. Like I said I do them in 2 coats all week long. Did another cabinet today as well.
Those edges are crying for primer. Without a sufficient coat or two of primer, you'll be buying a lot of spray cans.
As Al stated, he "primes" the boxes with black paint and a roller. I also think that using the roller might be the best way to go. One you've established a solid primer/foundation coat, then switch over to the spray to give it that "finished" look.
Also, be careful with those fumes with all that spraying. Too much of it can make you ill. Been there, done that.
