a good solid pair for listening, i'll have to with mackie hr-824's. they have more features than any passive speaker you can think of... since there powered monitors you don't have to worry about an amp. i've been using them for music listening and also for my HT for many years. personally i think there great there at least taking a look at

OK, a little bragging here... the mackie hr-824 are wonderful. with there 9 x 12 passive radiator ( i know strange size) and 8.75" woofer, for most rooms you "don't" really need a subwoofer. they play bass remarkably well sometimes i turn off my sub when i'm listening to music. i know there a little pricey but there cheaper that genelec monitors and sound about as good

I wish i had 2 more for a 7.1 setup... oh well one can dream
