This year, melons of all variety have turned out ripe and delicious. I've eaten watermelons, canteloupes, and honeydew - all have been impossibly sweet, explosively juicy and ripe. In recent years, my appreciation of melons has soured - unripe, tasteless, and worst of all, dry. But this summer's crop has become the vintage of the decade, if not the century. An article in the Minneapolis Star Tribune confirmed my suspicions. Plus, the sale pricing, at least here in the Twin Cities, has been good as of late - large watermelons, even seedless on sale for $2 to $3. So if you're like me and have had bad experiences with melons, go out and try them again. You'll find it a completely refreshing taste.
