I want to know which is the best home theater-in-a-box system under $700. I need one with the best DVD player, best features, and the one with the loudest, stongest, powered subwoofer.
HTiB's almost universal weak points are the sub and power output. Look for one that has the best sub extension and power, and I would prefer one that has separate components as this makes future upgrades easier (one component at a time). If you can go listen to particular ones, the bookshelf speakers that are included will determine most of what the system will sound like, so listen to them first if you can. Under $700 for the whole thing AND high quality is tough to do.
I think the JBL cinema pro pack 600 would be good for ya. (i think version 2 is out now but i don't know what it adds). The sub is one of the best HTIB subs. 8 inch 100 watt. 5 disc dvd player. full size receiver that is rumored to be based off of a Harman Kardon reciver (harman owns JBL).
