What is the best height to put your TV at? My first thought was that the center of the TV be at eye level. But then your center speaker (usually placed on top of TV) is supposed to be at ear level...

I'm considering a 50" HDTV (LCD or DLP rear projection), which makes it's height about 36" (with no stand). Distance from seating to TV is flexible. Ear level while sitting on my sofa is also about 36". I don't want to put my TV on floor, or build risers for my sofa. So what do you do? Put center speaker below TV and raise TV up?

Thanks!

I would put the center of the TV at eye level and angle the center speaker up or down (depending on whether you put it above or below your TV) to point toward your ear level.

Duh. I totally forgot you could angle the speaker. Thanks for reminding me (I'm new at this!). Of course, now I've got other questions. I'm going to post a new thread about tilting speakers. Thanks!
