Hi all,

I am looking for my best option for reading newsgroups, that does well with binary. I am currently using the one included with the Netscape mail client, but it interprets binary as text gibberish. I understand that Microsoft Outlook does not do much better, so I am looking at other third party readers. What does everybody recommend? Thanx!

Peace... Derek

I will put in another vote for XNews. While Free Agent gets the most votes usually for best newsreader, I personally find its UI a little too "busy". So if you prefer the simpler look, XNews might be your best bet.

Another option (and it comes free with the best email program I've ever used):
Mozilla Thunderbird!!! The newsgroup reader is excellent. I've used Agent, which is also very fine. Give it a try!

Also, try Mozilla Firebird for a web browser. It rocks as well (tabbed browsing, fast, clean, no popups, not as susceptible to hijacking.)

I sent a co-worker to this thread and he installed XNews. Thing is, he downloaded a multi-part file and once he had all the parts....it disappeared!!! He can't find the files and/or (if XNews auto restores) the original files the rars were a part of. Any sugestions??

Thanks in advance
