    Best DVD's for audio effects...

    - A Bug's Life (One of the best soundtracks out there. If you don't believe me, check out the surround effects like voices coming out from a single rear speaker. Visuals are nice too).

    - Titanic (great LFE, and ambient surround like the creaking/groaning of the ship's hull under stress)

    - The Perfect Storm (I particularly like the storm and helicopter rescue sequences)

    Other great sounding DVD's are...

    - Vertical Limit

    - Titan AE

    - The Matrix

    - The Fifth Element

    - Independence Day

    - SW Ep I

    - Terminator 2

    - Toy Story 2

    For visuals, check out...

    - Independence Day (very clean)

    - Starship Troopers (same)

    - Gladiator

    - A Bug's Life

    - Dinosaur

    - Toy Story 1 & 2

For visuals, you can't do any better than Moulin Rouge.

Another fine one would be Das boot. Very good sound, makes you feel like your sitting in the middle of the sub.
