Hard to answer that question without doing a side-by-side comparison.

Still, perception of audio quality is such a subjective thing. IMO it's better to see for yourself. In addition, both of these smart speakers automatically adjust their sound to the actual space they're in, so what one reviewer hears may not be objectively the same as what another hears, or what YOU hear in your own environment. When it comes to audio and I need to compare components, I find retailers with good return policies, buy what I'm interested in, then do a side-by-side, returning the loser.

Another issue for me is privacy. While I'm not under any illusions that Apple doesn't use info gathered by my HomePods, to me Amazon is FAR less trustworthy with eavesdropping.
