Browsing the home audio aisle today, saw a little square yellow pre-printed shelf tag next to the price tag for one of the receivers, stated the deal in the thread title. Of course, YMMV re: selection, but it seems like this might make for some pretty good deals. For example, I saw a Yamaha HTR-5590 receiver, reg. price $799.99, open box tag = $659.99. Take off the extra 25%, makes the price $494.99. Also saw a Kenwood VR-6070, reg. price $599.99, open box tag = $539.99, so price after extra discount = $404.99 (seems like I also saw recently there is a $100 Kenwood rebate available on this model; makes it a really good deal if the rebate exists and applies to open box purchases -- anybody know?). Anyway, happy hunting.

Hope this applies to speakers as well. I'd love to pick up another pair of JBL N38IIs for my office.

    John,

    Thanks for the heads up!

I just got back from the Best Buy in Milpitas, CA. They had an open item but still boxed Sony NC650V multichannel SACD/DVD 5 disc changer marked at 149.99. I asked about the 25% off since this could be considered home theater as it is a DVD player. They said that since it plays SACDs, it is considered home audio. So, I got it for $112.99 plus tax!

I have a 2 channel SACD player & have been wanting to try multichannel. This is certainly a cheap way to try it out.

I had them open it and the remote was still in the plastic bag. The manual was still in its plastic bag as was the demo SACD. What a deal!

There was one more left, but the writing on the box seemed to indicate that it is missing the remote. Yet it was also marked at $149. They also had a sealed unit for $189.
