What is your choice for the best BluRay player under $400? I like Pioneer and Sony. Also what is the best LCD HD TV 52-61", under $2000. Or are their any? Thanks.

Probably the Panasonic BD-35 to answer the Blu-Ray question. And look at the Panasonic Plasma PZ800 series 50" for your monitor budget.

Make that a third recommendation for the Panny BD-35. I convinced a friend to pick one up since he didn't "want some stupid video game thing" and it is a great player (although let me add that the PS3 has been the most reliable player to-date). I'll hopefully be adding the BD-35 to my bedroom sometime later this year.

The Panasonic BD-35 and Sony BDP-S350 seem to be the 2 most popular choices.

I just picked-up an S350 for my bedroom yesterday and love it.

Whatever you do stay away from the Samsung players - I just returned 2 broken BD-P1500s to Amazon yesterday. First one stopped outputting audio & video after 2 weeks. The replacement failed during a firmware update (though it appeared to have been successful) and refused to boot beyond the "welcome" screen.

I've owned a Sony BDP-S350 for about six weeks, and it has proved to be reliable so far. No problems playing any discs yet -- including the James Bond releases. This player is selling for $224 on Amazon right now, which is quite a bargain.

And actually this week Circuit City has a stupid good deal going on. 1599 for the 50" 1080p Panasonic plasma (TH-50PZ80U, I believe) and it comes with a free Panasonic BD-35. Check it out in-store, if you can. The website has a listing for a package deal which includes setup for 100 bucks more.

If you don't mind shopping online, Amazon has had that TV priced under $1350 w/ free shipping for most of the past week so far. The savings would make up for the cost of that player -- and you can then choose some other player instead, if you want.
