My 61" Mitsubishi finally died and I am looking for a home run in a
new BIG screen. No front projection since lighting is an issue.
I would like some opinions on chosing between:

    Mitsubishi Diamond Series WS-73711 = $6k
    Sony KDF-70XBR950 = $5k

Or is it worth the extra money and/or wait for the LCOS Mitsubishi or
    the newest Sony/Hitachi:
    Mitsubishi WL-82913 82" = $113k
    Sony KDS-70XBR100 = ?$10k
    Hitachi 70" = $7k

    Please give me your opinions.
    Thanks

I think you should look at the toshiba 62hm 84 dlp
or the 62hmx if you want integrated hd receiver.
i think the picture quality is better than the mits
and you can get them on line at an authorized dealer for 3 to 5 k depending on which one you want.
the toshiba has the new texas instrument hd2+ chip and is top of the line in dlp.
its not as bulky and can fit in a much smaller cabinet.
    its also very cool looking.
go to plasmaplanet.com and check the comparisons.

Odd I thought he said NO FPTV in his post.
This is an old set you know right? The 711 series is from 03.

The 713 is the current model set:

For pure PQ, A 9" CRT would smoke the LCD/DLP/LCOS guys.

The only set I'd take over that is the 70" SXRD Sony Qualia RPTV which runs around 10k. The others don't hold a candle to the 9" CRT Mits that is unless you value rainbows and no black level over PQ [IMG]

I know, but how can anyone justify spending megabucks for a huge TV when FP is a viable alternative? If daytime lighting is uncontrollable, then use a smaller (~50 inch) RPTV and bring the FP out at night. With ~50 inch LCD or DLP RPTVs going for

the 73 is not a diamond series. for some reason the 65 diamond is as big as it gets.

incidentally is the diamond's HD as good as it gets?
