I'm looking to purchase a 42" plasma HDTV and wondered about what you felt was the best buy for under $3000. Any thoughts from any of you that may own or have been looking for one? My 35" CRT TV quit last night and I haven't had the time to research much but I know now is the time to get it.

Ron, ask your question here in Display Devices. The High-Definition/Hardware area is strictly for asking about HD DVD, Blu-ray Disc, and D-Theater/D-VHS players. Thank you.

Definitely check out Panasonic. I think their new 60U series should fit your budget and they have a pretty strong following. I'd also recommend NEC
(42xr4) although I'm not 100% positive it costs less than $3,000 (but I think it does).

I have a 42" Phillips 42pf7220a without the ambilight, and it runs perfectly, it's a bargain price of about $2,000 and i have'nt had a problem yet

consider the Panasonic consumer or industrial units at your price point.

On my last trip to BB, I was looking at the Samsung 50" for around 3K.

It's the new 720p model with 'game mode' and other screen protecting features.

With a bit of haggling, I'm sure they would sell one for $2,999.

I recently picked up the Vizio 42" for under 2k. Great unit, and has gotten some nice reviews.

    Check it out.
