The best CRT TV at the moment is the 36" Sony KV-36HQ100. I am not sure if you can get this TV in the states.

Michael,

I've been looking at sets within the size you state and came up with the shortlist of the Sony XBR ($3200), the Panny Tau ($3000) and the Toshiba ($2600(?) (don't know the exact model names), all 34" wide HDTV ready TV's. Sears sell the Tosh and the Sony and 2001 Audio Video sell the Panny. Having weighed up all the sets (and the pictures being of similar quality to the human eye)I'll probably go with the Panny because the cabinet design is such that it doesn't detract from the picture.

However, if you can afford it I'd look to the 43" DLP Samsung set ($4500). It's got an awesome picture. Again, 2001 Audio Video.

Oh, and all prices above are in Cdn $.

The 34 inch 16x9 Sony XBR is listed at CDN$4000....the list price for lower 510 model is CDN$3200. The 34 inch Toshiba HF83 is listed at CDN$2400. The HFX83 Cinema Series is $100 more at CDN$2500.
