Many of thanks to the staff here at HTF for the forum, and Jay Sylvester for providing me the means to upgrade to the Zenith DVB-318. Being stationed in the military overseas makes shopping tedious at times, frustrating and simply impossible. It's unlikely a DVD player with DVI/1080i capability will even get over here within the next two years, so once again your all top notch people, not only for advice, but for actual merchadise "Incredible"
In all honesty I wasn't expecting the visual clarity and overall increase in picture quality that I ultimately ended up with. One word "Outstanding" Jay if you see this post your packaging was supreme !!! I highly recommend this player to one and all. Hooked it right up to my Sony 57" RPTV via DVI and have yet to even make any color corrections, or setting adjustments. Why you ask? Well I can't seem to find one thing that needs to be adjusted!! Sweet Mary mother of god!!! It's incredible!! Just thought I would share my excitement from Italy!!! Thanks again for all of your help!!
    Ciao
    Steve

Congratulations, Steven. Just curious: Are you living on the base or do you have other accommodations? I'm trying to picture a 57-inch RPTV in cramped military surroundings. At any rate, best of luck on your upgrade quest. JB

    Morning Jack,
No I don't live on base, I live if you can picture this in the "distretto della lava" as they call it, or lava district in English; in a small town called San Pietro or "Saint Peter". I rent a nice three level, three bedroom, 3 bath "Casa" on Mt. Etna (around the base of the Volcano) at an approximate elevation of 400-600 feet. It's a decent place and a little bit cooler than the base housing area which is at sea level right off the Mediterranean. Nice to look at, but unless your in the water those African winds are rather hot during the summer when they blow and I would rather be as cool as possible since I'm from Washington State and this has been quite a system shock. This summer being my second one here so it's not as bad. I've posted a couple of links to some pictures I've taken if you’re interested in seeing what Sicily really looks like. The story behind the picture of the statue in the church is an interesting one. I guess during one of Mt. Etna's many eruptions this church was enveloped by the lava flow but some how the statue survived the ordeal unscathed. It's said that a small girl had visions of this statue in her dreams and told the members of the church where they needed to dig to recover it, one of those "Believe it or Not" stories! Sorry no pics of Mt. Etna, I see it so much I've never felt the need to take any pictures. Anyway, just in case you want to check them out...
    Ciao,
    Steve

And Steven, you might want to check out the latest issue of Sound & Vision. There's a story in it about the home-theater setups on an aircraft carrier — proving that life (at least in the Navy!) can be occasional fun amid all that hard work and sacrifice. Also echoing Bill's good wishes for your efforts on everybody's behalf.
