Ben Affleck was clocked at doing 114mph here in Georgia recently (reported on the AM radio station I usually listen to at work).

You'd think a big star could afford a car that would do more than that.
What a terrible tragedy. Someone buy the guy a Boxster or something.

At least he wasn't issued a DUI (an allusion to his recent alcohol troubles if you hadn't heard about it).
I'll bet Ben was trying to get away from Michael Bay's offer to be in Bay's next film: Pearl Harbor 2: This Time We Have a Good Script.

As for the bad rap about the characters--hey, I've seen space operas that put their emphasis on human personalities and relationships. They're called "Star Trek" movies. Give me transparent underwater cities and vast hollow senatorial spheres any day. --Roger Ebert on The Phantom Menace

Well he certainly could afford the fine. It's reported he followed them to the jail paid the fine of $1140 and drove off. What's a $1000 to guy making millions?
Hopefully it's nothing more than a need for speed, but sadly there's likelymore problems behind this one. He's no Robert Downey Jr. acting-wise and we don't need anymore folks trying to achieve his off the screen status.

He is also full of himself and a bad actor. I perfer to pay to see real actors like DeNiro, Pacino and Sammy Jackson.

And there was me thinking you meant he took loads of speed, going by the title.

It's a bit foolish to expect someone to be a better person because they happen to be a more popular and well-known person. In fact I'd go so far as to say most people who make it big in showbiz have a***hole tendancies.

I think money makes you more of what you are. If you are generous friendly person you'll be moreso. If you are an egomaniac you turn into an asshole.

I like that... of course that means if I ever become rich I'll turn into an asshole a generous friendly person.

Not that I'm likely to become rich in this lifetime.

Oh, come on. Like none of you have ever driven a car past 100mph... I've had mine up to 140 on the interstate. I just didn't get caught.
Seriously, a big fat speeding ticket does not a bad actor make. Look at what other "celebrities" are doing and then tell me how bad Affleck really is. At least he didn't plow his SUV through a crowd of people because he was having a bad hair day, or get caught smoking crack with an underaged prostitute for the 10th time. Have some perspective here.

I'm with you Ryan. The guy got a ticket for speeding, big deal. I'm guessing 90% of drivers frequently exceed the speed limit. I'm not sure if that's the case in the States, tell me I'm wrong.

Ok, maybe not routinely... but once in awhile. And holy crap is it fun when the conditions are right for it

I only speed because it takes it takes 25-30 minutes to get to work, and I only have 15-20 minutes to make it on time!

$1140 dollar fine! Wow.
Sorry, but I don't think I've ever been behind the wheel and not speeded. The most I've done in the states is about 110 mph. I got to 130 on the Autobahn (BMW 540i...mmmmmmm).

I don't know, my speedometer only goes up to 85.
So did mine at the time. I wrapped it back past 85, to 0, then all the way up to 40. After measuring the dial and having friends pace me, we figured 0 is right around 100, so back to 40 is about 140.

Would have kept going except the speedo began spinning like a top. Good thing, since I was probably close to blowing that poor little 2.8l V6 up...

I personally have never gone over 90, but I have been in the car with a friend who was doing 120 MPH on I-20 between Augusta and Atlanta. It is amazing to cover two hours of driving in one, but boy did he get bad gas mileage.
Georgia police are pretty lenient and sparse (especially around Atlanta); I usually go 80+ on the way to work in a 55, and I'm just keeping up with traffic.

Ryan, I don't think anyone was really blasting Ben as being a bad person for speeding.
I thought this was just a humorous reset of the "Yasmine Bleeth a crack addict! Sad but true!" thread...
