Since I missed the Twilight Time release, I'll happily spring for this.

I tried to pre-order it but it said currently available. I'll try again later. I missed the TT and was this close to ordering the (legitimate) Spanish blu.

Will this release have the same features that were on the TT release, or maybe have new features like a new interview with Kim Novak?

Yeah! I have the TT, which I loved, but it has sadly become a coaster. So happy to be able to replace it.

Unlikely that there would be new features. Unlikely that it would have any extras that TT produced, but would likely have any extras that were part of the Sony DVD version.

Anything wrong with the previous TT release? I seem to recall it was from a 4k scan

I would assume this is the same transfer. All Sony is doing is taking Twilight Time's expired license and re-releasing it under their own label.

If this were somehow a new transfer you would think Sony would go out of the way to announce it as such

Why would any think this would get a new transfer? It’s hardly hardly a disaster and totally watchable - unlike the King and I from the same period.

Unlikely as Ms. Novak shuns the limelight these days. If we're lucky, they'll port the 10 minute interview on Bell Book And Candle that Novak and Stephen Rebello did for the 2010 Novak box set which included Bell Book and Candle, Picnic, Pal Joey, Middle Of The Night and Jeanne Eagels.

I have the TT disc and I watched it earlier this year. It looked good and was very grainy at some points. I’d be curious to pick this disc up as a back-up in case the TT disc dies. Will see though what the reviews are like for the new disc.

it was the first time I’d seen it. Quite a quirky film. The Elizabeth Montgomery TV series Bewitched didn’t take much inspiration from this film. Though I thought Uncle Arthur was based on the Jack Lemmon character and Aunt Clara was based on Lanchester’s character. Though I realize Sol Saks did say he took inspiration from the film for the series.

    candle01.

It's good to see a (parent) company (in this case Columbia Pictures) getting behind and releasing its own product instead of licensing it out.

This enjoyable fantasy-premised comedy makes for splendid Christmas-time viewing and I will gladly support it.

It's allegorical connotation of a hidden Sub Culture of Witches existing in our midst is obvious in our more "aware" times.

Odd that Janice Rule is totally ignored in the trailer.

My favorite exchange in the film:

James Stewart (referring to Kim Novak): "She's a witch!"
Janice Rule: "Oh you never could spell."

Does anyone know about this deleted scene, as this photo has appeared on the back cover of both the original DVD and the TT Blu-ray.
