I'm going to make some balanced cables for my EMO amp to preamp with some Belden 1800F I have. I purchased some Neutrik XX series XLR's that I have used in the past with other balanced cable. I noticed that the belden has Positive, negative and ground along with the braid. Not used to this.
Do I combine the braid and the ground wire on pin 1? Normally on my other cables I run the braid to pin 1 and the other two wires to pin 2 and 3.
Any thoughts?

Doesn’t really matter which way you do it, but if the drain wire is there, no reason not to just tie it in. Those are typical with installation-grade, foil-shield wire – first I’ve ever seen it with a regular shielded cable.
