Barbara and Adam have to return in this, 2 said Lydia found a loophole for them to be able to move on from being house bound for 125 years.

Tim and whoever else ends up writing the next story needs to come up with something that makes them be able to comeback and be a part of the story again, Beetlejuice and Lydia may be the main characters of the series, but The Maitland's are also important as well as it all began with them to begin with.

Not sure how they could do that with Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis, as Barbara and Adam would have to appear the same age as the first film. They could use de-aging CGI, but that would probably be very expensive unless they just make a cameo. Or I suppose they could come up with some reason why they looked so much older.

If Geena and Alec were the only thing that would be CGI enhanced and everything else is practical like the original and sequel, I don't think fans would be upset with that.

Tim and Michael only did 2 because everything was done practically and for the world of Beetlejuice it's the only way for it to work and be so believable to the audience.

Everything that was nominated for visual effects at the Oscars this years was all CGI, practical effects are a dying breed these days.

I forgot about Beetlejuice Beetlejuice immediately after seeing it. I thought it was a thoroughly mediocre sequel. But I guess another chapter was inevitable after its success. I just hope if this ever gets made it’s better and more original than the lazy last one.

Given the title pattern established with the previous one, no one will be able to say the name of the third one out loud.

I forgot about it while I was watching it and put in a better movie. 😂

I Was actually surprised at how sloppy it was. The practical and visual effects were mediocre at best. Regardless here comes the second cash grab sequel. 🙄

I didn't expect to particularly like the second movie but I feel that they made a fairly decent sequel. However, trying to go to the well a third time seems like a bad idea to me. That being said, I have to imagine that another movie won't ever happen (with the original folks anyway) so there's nothing to 'worry' about here.

Let's all wait and see what happens, I liked 2, I thought it perfectly captured all the quirkiness of the original. I liked that we got to see more of the afterlife with Beetlejuice and Wolf Jackson offices and the train platform too.

That’s cool. I certainly didn’t hate it but it just didn’t have the humor or charm of the first one. And way too many plots. I hope “if” this one ever gets made Burton comes up with a better plot.

After the success of the second film, I absolutely believe WB wants to make a third film a big priority. I also believe they wanted to make the second film in the years more immediately after the first one was such a success.

If they do manage to make another one more quickly, though, it will lose the novelty. The first film was released before I was born. Part of the curiosity around the sequel was because of how long the gap was between films and pent-up demand to see the characters again. Of course, that doesn't mean that a third film can't be successful. It is certainly possible that the film could be successful. But the success would have to be more about the merits of the film because we've already seen what a modern sequel looks like. There won't be quite as much of a curiosity factor.

The popularity of the first film explains the strong opening of the second one, but not its legs. The fact that it stuck around a while and was able to gross pretty close to $300 million domestically means that, generally, the audience must have liked what they saw.

I hated what I saw. I'm beyond the point where I care at all and I will not see a third. I really wanted to like it, but I don't think there was a creative narrative reason to make the second one at all. It was a complete mess and I don't want more of it. But the audience response at my packed screening, as well as the film's undeniable grosses, indicate that I am in the minority. I predicted that I would be when I posted after my screening. It would be in WB's financial interest to get a third one going.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice was Warner's top domestic grossing film of 2024, even over Dune 2 and Godzilla x Kong, so they'd be foolish not to make another. If they can somehow justify The Matrix 5 after that one bombed (cue the "simultaneous streaming" and "continued COVID impact" excuses), they should certainly find a way to make Beetlejuice 3.

If Tim and Michael are involved then there's no reason why 3 would not work. Tim and Michael is why Beetlejuice is Beetlejuice in the first place, they both compliment each other so well.

Matrix opened around the same time that Spider-Man: No Way Home did and that movie made not quite but almost $2 billion despite the Covid situation. So I think that proves people just rejected Matrix because of the movie, not the environment at the time. You are right that WB will blame those other factors, but they are convenient excuses.

A third one of these makes a lot more sense financially than a fifth Matrix.
This is true 99% of the time but Hollywood keeps cranking out the sequels.
That's because tthey make money. Beetlejuice 2 did that. But there are consequences to making a bad movie. I think the second film is absolutely terrible. The consequence of that is that I am no longer interested in a third film in this series.

If Tim and Michael are involved then there's no reason why 3 would not work.
It could absolutely not work with them involved it if the script is terrible. That's what I thought about the second one.

Correct, not to mention several other WB titles released that year that all grossed considerably more under the same release conditions. People just didn't care about the film. Not sure they'll care about another.
