Original director fired after first week, he then goes native living in the jungle outside the set only to later infiltrate the production as an extra and actually appears in the film he was fired from!Wow. That is the greatest story ever.
U2 Rattle & Hum: The Original 17 hour version of the filmHey, them be fightin' words!
Actually, I do have about ten hours of outtakes and unused footage on video tape somewhere. There's some really interesting stuff there if you're a fan of the band; they apparently felt uncomfortable putting out a true "behind the scenes" documentary, and just settled on a film of concert performances, and the behind the scenes stuff is really interesting to see. The hours of unused performance footage is also great, but that's not really a surprise.
I was talking about this movie with a friend the other day, actually: I think it's got some of the best black and white concert cinematography ever. That concert footage is absolutely stunning.
