I have been been playing Battlefield 1942 since near its release and love the game. I have never really been a big fan of the mods (Desert Combat, Eve Of Destruction) but do enjoy them once in a while. The latest E0D is actually quite good since the last .3 patch and now the Forgotten Hope team revamped their mod with the latest .61 release and all many of us at the Wolf community (and Battlefield fans all over) are just saying "wow".

You have never played Omaha Beach until you have played this.

Forgotten Hope is a realism mod. Some people like that idea and some don't. There's a delicate balance of having fun/good gameplay with realism. The problem with realism is it usually takes away from the game. The old version did just that and many of us stayed away. But now, a somewhat balance has been achieved that gives this a whole new look. There's still a lot of "one shot one kills" but its not so dominated by the rifle like it used to.

Its a huge download (approx 1.2 Gb) and needs a decent pc to run it, even more so than Battlefield. It can be found at the typical gaming sites (fileplanet, gamespy etc). The developers have made many of their own maps that are outstanding.

I didn't have any of Omaha, I'll add some in later :)

Here's a link to their forums for more info, I think the main site is down.
