Shopping over at Amazon I noticed Battle of Britain is due to be released on DVD on May 20. Maybe I have been living in a cave or something but I hadn't heard about this movie's release on DVD before.

Has anyone seen any reviews for it yet? It is one of my favorites and I really hope the transfer is as good as possible.

AFAIK, it's a bare bones release, but there was a rumour last year that a future release of Battle of Britain would feature a restored Sir William Walton score; shortly before his death Ron Goodwin expressed his delight at the prospect.

Now whether this features on the R1 and/or on a future R2 disk (or has been scrapped!), I have no idea.

A good DVD widescreen release that doesn't leave out the subtitles for the German scenes (as a TCM airing did) would be just fine with me!

Walton's complete score along with Goodwin's was available on CD from Rykodisc but is now out of print (along with all other Rykodisc soundtrack releases). You might still be able to find copies in bigger stores.
