I was just checking out DVD Empire and noticed that the upcoming keepcase release (10/04) of Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman is listed as both fool screen and...ANAMORPHIC WIDESCREEN!!!

Could this be true!?! Or am I just being taunted with a typo...?

I then checked DVD Planet and they have it listed there as Full Frame, Widescreen, 1.85:1. So my question is does anyone know for sure? I would definitely upgrade to an anamorphic version rather than the cropped one I have now...

If that's true, it gives me a reason to buy it again. I misplaced the first one and good reason to replace it.

I'd be surprised if the one you have now ended up being the cropped one.

How so? The original release was offered as 4:3 only. In the special features it can clearly be seen that the film was animated 1.78:1. There's a clearly defined scene in the subway that is definitely cropped when compared to the special features section.

This comes out tomorrow. Has anyone been able to confirm whether or not a widescreen version is included?

Wierd. According to the WB product page, there are two OARs listed (1.33:1 and 1.85:1), although it mentions a transfer from 4:3.

It's been a couple of days now. Surely someone here has purchased this disc. Can anyone yet verify if the rumors are true?

Robert, we all secretly took a vote and decided you were the sacrificial lamb to go out and buy the DVD. Sorry...I mean, congratulations!

Actually, I sold all my previous Batman animated movie releases to pick up the keepcase versions. I was waiting for the next DDD sale though to pick them up.

Prentice, that is very generous of you!

However...I am not one to replace a DVD just to get rid of the snapper-case. I think I can only justify replacing it if it has a preferable transfer.

Has anyone ELSE found out yet???

I purchased the new keepcase version and back lists standard version only, no widescreen. I have not had a chance to watch it yet but will let you know if there is a 'surprise' widescreen version. For now, looks like they just put same disc in a new case. Same goes for Batman & Mr.Freeze
