This is *fantastic* news!!
I love the movie, but the DVD was grainy and non-anamorphic. This is one of the best Batman movies in any medium and it was long overdue for a proper release.

Day 1 purchase for me. I saw a midnight showing of a 35mm print maybe three years ago and it was as good as I remembered.

OMG!! Great news!!
One of my most wanted animation films on Bluray off!

Funny thing. I just bought the DVD a few months ago. It has subzero as well.

Crazy how that seems to go. I gave up on this one coming to blu ray.
Adding it to my wish list!

put it in the player as soon as it arrived, and now i want SubZero even more, and of course TAS. Not to dissuade anyone from the DC animated Universe, but the current projects will (IMO) will never top the TAS

I'm watching season 1 with my boys and we all love it.
Is there any word on the animated series on blu ray?

I picked up the double feature DVD of subzero and mask a while back. We watched both this summer and we liked both as well.

I just got mine and haven't watched it yet - but to anyone receiving it, is it just me, or is the print quality of the outer sleeve a little more like amateur hour? Mine came from Amazon and appears legit but the print quality on the insert looks almost like a bootleg. The text on the back is slightly blurry, and the tech specs grid is so faint as to be nearly unreadable.

I got some other Warner Archive discs today direct from WA and just noticed the printing quality on those seems under par as well.

I started watching the "theatrical version" tonight and it immediately reminded me how tight the framing was at that screening. I ended up switching to the 4x3 "television version" and found it much more pleasing overall. It works in either ratio but it seems really obvious that it was originally animated with a 4x3 television frame in mind.

It came up at SDCC, and the answer was the standard "There are no plans for that at this time."
I saw it reported elsewhere that the original negatives are in no condition for an HD master if true I don't think we will be seeing a Blu Ray as the cost to completely restore and remaster the whole series would be epic.

Exactly. Batman: The Animated Series is from the "finished on video" era, meaning the series would have to be rescanned from film elements and new credit blocks generated, as well as any other video effects native to the video masters. While not the herculean task that Star Trek: The Next Generation was on Blu-ray, it's still substantial, and since most of WB's TV output is now handled by Warner Archive, if the sales numbers do not justify it, they will not do it.
