I got excited for a minute seeing the title and thinking this was going to be a BR release of the 2 Batman serials from the 40s - until I did the math and realized the 85th anniversary for the release of the first isn't for a few more years...

Yeah, not sure how this is celebrating the 85th anniversary of anything in this collection.
It's the 85th anniversary of the first appearance of Batman in Detective Comics #27 (May 1939).

I, too, don't get how these modern films relate outside of featuring Batman. The serials would be more appropriate and closer to the date of his first appearance.

Well, I guess for 20 somethings, these are ancient , LOL!!! I just don't see the relevance to the 85th Anniversary box set to these animated films. Somebody missed the mark here!!

Yeah, not sure how this is celebrating the 85th anniversary of anything in this collection.

It’s celebrating the 85th anniversary of the character with the combined release of several of his animated appearances. It’s not the strongest lineup of titles ever to appear in a box set but I don’t think it’s outrageously off the mark either. Warner/DC animation did a similar box set the previous time Batman hit a big old round anniversary number.
