Basic connecting speakers question (1 Viewer)

I have a tangled mess of madness of cables behind my home entertainment system. What happens if you connect the speaker wire from the left port of the receiver to the right speaker and the right port of the receiver to the left speaker?

The only thing that will happen is the sound that should be on the right will be on the left, and vice-versa.

For future reference, you may want to label them.
