Here is the ESPN article which has the police report.

I looked all over the ESPN site for a video but couldn't find one. Anyone have a link [IMG] to the video?

It was funny...bonked one sausage on the head. That sausage fell over and knocked the sausage next to it over. Sausage dominos.

It was a pretty good wallop too...wonder if he had enough padding to absorb the shock (if not the humiliation).

The video link is on the website. There's also an ESPN poll asking which sausage would you would want to have your back in a street fight. Currently the Italian sausage is winning. Jokes aside, I don't think there's much humorous about someone get whacked upside the head with a baseball bat. Sounds like the woman's okay, but it could have been more serious.

The professional athlete swinging a wooden bat at a precariously balanced FAN running a race SCREAMS MORON to me. What an ass. Completely and totally. Though I normally abhor frivolous lawsuits, I'll abstain in this case.

I am glad she wasn't hurt. What an a$$hole.

    Take care,
    Chuck

On the lighter side, one of the websites I read had the great headline:

"Pirate Arrested For Beating Meat In Front Of Thousands."

As for the incident, there's really nothing funny there. But one of my friends did have a funny comment about Randall Simon:

"If the girl had curved, Simon would have swung and missed, as he always does."

    Good times. What a maroon.

Not to be insensitive to the two people who fell down during the incident, but look at the height of those costumes. It's pretty obvious he wasn't going to hit the woman's head with the swing he took. An ill-conceived stunt? Definitely. But I don't believe he was trying to injure anyone.

Has everyone who's flipping out about this actually seen the video?

From the comments, you'd thing the guy crossed the field, took a full windup and blasted her.

As others have stated, a dumb thing to do with no intention of actually hurting the person. I bet he was surprised that the weight of costume actually caused the person to lose her balance and fall down. I know the player who thought he was being funny at the time now realizes that he screwed up big time.

From the video on mlb.com, I think it was a really stupid gesture, not a mean one...

    Cheers,

    Vincent

Mark, you might want to go back and re-read the police report on ESPN with the idea in mind that it just might be a humorous send-up. [IMG]
