Barabbas (1962) was the first film I saw in 70mm but it seems to have become almost a lost film. The only version I have ever had is a VHS mono, pan & scan version. DVDFile now report that Columbia are releasing this on 3/5 with a 2.35:1 anamorphic transfer and 4.0 surround, hopefully in it's original roadshow presentation. The success of Gladiator has probably led to Columbia releasing this but whatever the reason, I'm pleased that this is now making its appearance on DVD.

Wow, this is awesome news! BARABBAS is one of my favorite movies, a very underrated epic that deals with questions of faith in a more believable manner than many other sword and sandal epics. I've only seen the film on television and that awful Columbia Pan and Scam mono VHS tape. I am so pleased I can finally retire that tape and see this film in it's OAR. This is great![IMG]

I was also excited when I saw this up for pre-order. A definite purchase for me.
