It's been reported from the Disney meetings that this will officially be the next title to follow October's Aladdin in the Disney Platinum line!!! WOO HOO!!! Very happy about this one...

I had Cinderella down as what would probably be next, but I'm just as glad to have this coming.

It may be a year away, and I may have been hoping more for Cinderella or 101 Dalmatians (I know it had a limited release, but I didn't have a DVD player at the time!) next, but this is great news still!

I would suspect an April release. Haha, perfect time for this. Drip drip drop, little April showers...

Bambi is one of the best animated features ever made by anybody. I have a hard time deciding most days which of the following three films are *the* best Disney animated feature: Pinocchio, Fantasia, and Bambi. Some days, Bambi wins. It is an incredible achievement in character animation and in art direction, and out of all of Walt Disney's animated features, it was his personal favorite, as well as the favorite of Disney animators Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston (crosses fingers for a Thomas/Johnston commentary track).

I could not sit through Bambi the first time I saw it (at about five or six), making my Mom take me outside—and then back inside and back outside.

Even though there are other animated Disney feature I prefer, no others ever had this effect on me. Basically I consider this a tribute to Disney and this film. A stunning achievement.

Cool. I haven't actually seen Bambi since I was like 3, so my memory on it is rather hazy.

Agreed. Maybe not the best ever but definately top 5. Some of the most detailed backgrounds ever done in animated film.

Bambi is a must. Can't say the same for Aladdin.

Here's what I don't understand: how is it that the name Bambi, attributed to a male in the case of the movie, is used as a female name in our society?

I've never heard of a guy called Bambi before.

Doubt it. And just to whip up some controversey...

    Bambi > Aladdin.
Bambi > Beauty and the Beast.
Bambi > The Lion King, which cribs off Bambi left and right.

And just to make the fur really fly:

    Bambi > My Neighbor Totoro.

    (rrrrruumble..!)

Run! Run! The Anime Defense League has been activated!

Bambi contains for me arguably the saddest death scene
of any movie I've ever seen. I can't wait for this.
