Larry, I believe electrostats and ribbons tend to have a low efficiency. While they may ultimately capable of the same output and distortion as a horn, you'd need a huge amplifier. At the same price point with a horn system, you could use a cheaper amplifier of similar quality/less power and use better quality horns, or buy a better amplifier. Power costs money and electrostats need a lot of power. I heard a pair of ML Prodigies powered by the 650-watt Krell monoblocks and it was absolutely amazing. You'd probably get the same dynamics with K-horns and a 20 watt tube amp though.
