B&W 600 series vs. 600i series - Differences???? (1 Viewer)

Can anyone fill me in on where B&W 600i speakers sit in the B&W pecking order?

A good friend just bought a pair of used 604i speakers to update his existing B&W series system (602, 601, CC6, ASW sub).

I actually bought his 601's to go with my own 604 S1's, but we are both a bit curious about the "i" series.

There sure as heck is not a lot of info that I could find. It appears that they were made sometime in the mid 90's but I an not getting far with Google, or even among the various HT web sites.

The 600i series was B&W's budget series before they came out with the newer 600 series 1. The "i" stands for "improved", but I don't remember what the improvements were over their predecessors. The models in the line were the 600i, 610i, 620i, 630i, 640i and the 640i was the only model with a kevlar midrange. Mid 90s is correct, right around 1994-1996.
