B&K Ref Component Inputs

    Do the component video inputs on the Ref 30 have enough bandwidth for HDTV? Their spec sheet says 10 to 20 MHz, which doesn't seem to very good. I don't know if that just applies to composite and s-video.

    For true HDTV you will need 300 to 500 MHz.

    This is why the best switches are rated as they are.

    You need 3-5x required bandwidth for no loss.

    That's why the new Cinepro is at 500MHz.

    Not much more support for these speeds yet.

    It's best if you can just wire direct to the display

    and forget the switching offered in a pre-pro.

    The specs are for S and composite video. The component switching is mechanical via relay and has a much higher bandwidth. B&K says at least 100Mhz I believe which is all you need for HDTV most people say since the bandwidth of HDTV is in the 30Mhz range.
