As the title suggests, anybody got thoughts on the winner of this face-off?

I'm waiting around for the Acurus upgrade, but wonder if from a sonics, bass management and overall flexibility standpoint going for a used B&K Ref 30 might be more of an improvement than upgrading my trusty old ACT-3. Particularly if there's a B&K upgrade around the bend. Me thinks the ACT-3 upgrade due out soon will be the end of the road for that piece.

    Comments?

    Thanks,

    -Paul

I'm in the same boat, and I am definitely attracted to the B&K Ref30 as well as the Anthem AVM-20. So your ruling out trading in your ACT-3 for a StageOne at $2500? That's less than a Ref30.

    Stephen,

To be clear, a Stage 1 would be cool, but understand that my spend on (any) new preamp would factor in the sale of my ACT-3. Therefore, sadly, the Stage 1 + $2500 would be out of my price range.
