I didn't watch the bonus disc either. It is cool to have the crossover preserved, but I'm hoping to be able to duplicate the experience with Simon and Magnum box sets.
Well, got started on the bonus disc. Have not yet gotten to the Sharon Stone double-episode, but I was disappointed in the first offering. I would have rather seen a double-episode that featured two Magnum segments or 2 more stand-alone Magnum episodes.
Appreciated the historical value of the cross-over episode, and the DVD providing the opportunity for it to be seen for the first time in awhile--I did love the Simon & Simon intro which recapped the events of the Magnum episode seen "last hour."
However, the Simon & Simon episode was a stinker in that it featured next to no Magnum ("special appearance") and Higgins was largely wasted. IMHO, a huge opportunity was wasted to really partner the P.I.s--in the Magnum episode, the two teams are largely working against each for. Very disappointing.
I used the search function for "Magnum PI closed captioning" and didn't come up with anything. I would appreciate it if someone could tell me if the DVD set of Magnum P.I. has closed captioning.
I checked one of my discs and it didn't appear to have closed captioning when I tried it. However it did have English, French, and Spanish subtitles if that helps.
I appreciate you checking. I had wanted to surprise my father with this set. Since he's hard of hearing, I thought he might have some trouble with some of the scenes such as dialogue in the helicopter. But if it has English subtitles, maybe I might still get this for him.
Thought I'd revive this thread to ask this question:
I finally picked up Season One yesterday, after watching a few Hawaii Five-0's, I felt nostalgic for this too! I almost forgot how much fun the first year was.
Anyway, the box looks like there's a flap inside to hold a booklet. My set doesn't have any booklets. Did it originally have anything?
Did anyone else have a freezing/blocky screen problem with the first season episode "Lest We Forget" (in the Region 1 set), after the main cast title sequence?
Another question I have, regards the Hawaii Five-O series finale "Woe to Wo Fat" and Magnum p.i.'s feature length series premiere "Don't Eat the Snow in Hawaii". When did filming finish on the former and filming start on the latter?
