I am running a 5.1 system. I am currently using the AVR-3300 in my system with an Outlaw 750 power amp and B&W 600 series speakers. I am considering upgrading to the AVR-3803. Most of the DVD's availabe are Dolby Digital and DTS which the AVR-3300 decodes. Aside from the additonal surround modes DTS-ES DTS-Neo 6 etc... What other benefits are there? Is the sound better?
No complaints with the AVR-3300. Just curious.

Thanks

I own a 3300, and I just ordered a 3803 the other day from 6ave ($648). I couldn't resist the good deal.

In a week or so I could provide some more input.

Component video switching, and video up-conversion.

I at least I don't think the 3300 had that.

3803 has 16 Burr-Brown 1791 DACS, Pure Direct Mode, 100MHz component inputs, better crossover, 12v trigger, and more.....

I posted the reply below regarding a 3802 vs a 3803 at a couple of forums (including here.)

In addition to all the improvements over the 3802, the 3803 bests the 3300 by adding 2 more amps (along with the 6.1/7.1 decoding that brings) and it adds Dolby Pro Logic II. Worth the upgrade alone IMO. Prior to my 3802, I ran a 3300 as a pre/pro. The 3802 was a bit cleaner sounding than the 3300 and at the risk of repeating myself, I also felt that going to DPL II alone was well worth the move back then. When you add in all the advantages the 3803 brings over the 3802, I can't imagine you wouldn't be tickled pink if you upgraded...
