I am currently using a Yamaha htr-5540 with my new setup for Polk RTI-70 fronts,CSI30 center,R30 rears, and SVS 17-39pci sub. All is well but the sound is a little too bright with the new rti's. This seems to be maybe a symptom of the Yamaha line. I am satisfied with 5.1 sound as my smallish 12x13 room won't allow a 6.1 or 7.1 upgrade.

Do you all believe that the hk avr225 would be more of a lateral move in sound or do you think this will help me smooth the sound out a little without sacrificing theater impact?

    Fire away.

Well, there's really only one way to find out, but I can tell you that the sound of H/K really smooths out my Infinity Interlude's which actually have a very flat response, but are considered 'bright' sounding by some. I've always thought Polk and Infinity had similar sound.
