I've largely gone digital on entertainment and am a left handed gamer which was fine for classic games but post n64 I was left with no choice but to create my own control layout with default useless and the game industry standard southpaw mode almost useless! The game industry standard southpaw offered lefty's a choice of stop moving and die or stop looking and die which is why so many people forced into adopting default but using a swappable parts 3rd party Phoenix revolution i found my stock pad version of true southpaw mode and also used the 3-1 dual trigger to improve it only with the elite pad did I go beyond the limits of the stock pad and with my ultimate mode I even have found adapters for using the elite pad on PlayStation and switch when you have an ultimate mode going backwards to the simple stock pad isn't going to help!!
