Wow. I say bring it all on. I have been more than pleased with all the Marvel movies thus far, and don't expect to be let down with Hulk or X2. I would love to see a Ghost Rider movie, and I think Nic Cage would be a good pick. But the Rock as Punisher? Puhleeze.
oh god...I want a good Iron Man movie so bad. That would rock hardcore if done right.
But the Rock as Frank Castle? please...gimme a break. I really cant think of a good actor to be Frank. He is a tough character to cast I think. He has to be mean and coldhearted, but still have some depth to him. You need to see the hell he has been through in his eyes. And the rock cannot do that. Besides...I see the punisher as being close to his 50s...more like 40 or so.
I think Viggo Mortensen would be a good Frank Castle.
Not a bad pick Dan. Now that you mention it, I think he could play the role well. He would need to add some muscle and bulk up a bit though.
Cant wait for DD2, Elektra, Blade 3, Ghost Rider, and Punisher.
I gotta say Viggo would be a very good Punisher.
Cool article. Gotta love Philly.com
All the projects sound potentially cool, though I can't imagine a Storm movie - at least not one that I'd want to see.
I can see the poster tagline now...
"Do you know what happens to insert villain archetype here when it's struck by lightning? The same thing that happens to everything else!"
Interesting words, but I hope they don't oversaturate the market.
Regarding Punisher ...
The Rock couldn't do any worse than the Dolph Lundgren version ... although, even that one could have been worse. Okay, maybe not :b
I enjoyed hearing Singer and his friend discussing that line in their dvd commentary.
"What does happen when a toad is struck by lightning?"
my opinion of ms berry started to tank when she was involved in that hit and run.
never really thought she was well cast as storm (watching Angela Bassett in Contact- thought she had the perfect mix of grace and authority that i always associated with the character- oh well).
anyways, like PC said, no delivery could have saved that line, it was just too awkward.
i don't associate the comic book storm with having the attitude of a california teen ager, so why would someone give her buffy-esque dialouge to deliver? ( but thats something that Singer should have noticed and changed on the spot...surely one of the grips could have brainstormed something better)
i think a Storm movie could work, its just a matter of finding an essence of the character and building an interesting conflict around that.
doesn't have to be anything like any other superhero film thats been made for it to be interesting, but it does have to be interesting in and of itself.
the biggest obstacle would be thinking outside of the box that these exist in now.
almost any character can have a story worth telling.
unfortunately true imagination is much harder to come by than kick ass cgi effects and production design.
out of all the ones listed though, i would think Iron Man would be one of the easiest (coneptually) to translate and would be built in to provide enough WOW- factor.
"Batman meets James Bond meets Robocop, you say? hmm...ok here's 100 million"
The punisher? A younger Michael Ironside, perhaps. Or the current one with a toupee. He's getting grey...
as in Jinx from Die Another Day
Hulk 2 will be done as "Hulk Lite" ????? That's a rather puzzling statement.
Jason Statham would work as Frank Castle
What happened to the Dr. Strange movie? That's the one I really want to see.
