I don't think my ass could take it!
A couple hundred geeks sitting on their asses for 14 hours while ingesting nothing but popcorn, crappy theater "nachos" & soda?? Those theaters are going to be rank by the time 2 AM rolls around.
Avengers aside (since I haven't seen it), they would have to pay me to see those movies...Ok Iron Man 1 was ok.
So far the reviews are extremely positive on this one. 96% on Rotten Tomatoes at the moment (24 positive/ 1 neg review ).
Yea everyone whos seen it is raving about it.
I'm trying to decide if I want to see it in IMAX 3-D or regular Real3D
What's the consensus?
I'm also seeing a listing for not 3-D in 35MM.
I would love to see this on the IMAX screen, but fake 3D is a big no-no for me. I've seen two or three post-converted films, and the 3D detracted from my experience in every case.
IMAX midnight screening poster:
Apparently it's fake IMAX too. I'm thinking that I'll see it in regular format and save the extra money.
Initial box office is already positive:
Watched it and it's amazing. More than I expected. The 3D is really good for post conversion. 9/10 for sure.
Thanks for sharing
So the only way to see the movie is in 3D and that was done in post-production? That kind of sucks.
The movie will still be awesome, but boo to lack of choices.
Why do you think the only way to see the movie is in 3D? That would be unprecedented for a wide release. I don't know where abouts you live, but most of my local theaters are showing 2D as well as 3D screenings for next weekend.
I went on movietickets.com and all I could find was one in a suburb. I live in Toronto, and as of now, I can't find ANYTHING besides that one theatre outside of the city that isn't showing it in 3D.
My only thinking is that the other major theatres haven't put up that they're showing it in 2D also.
Plenty of 2-D in the Philly area, maybe there are none wherever you are.
I don't know if Canadian theaters do it differently, but the US movie chains will be adding show times right up until the release date as demand builds. Hopefully in another couple days, a couple of your local theaters will have added 2D showtimes.
An interesting interview with the cinematographer about shooting The Avengers digitally with the Arri Alexa cameras
