Where to watch

Disney announced today that the original plan to split Infinity War into two films (Part I and Part II) has been nixed. Avengers: Infinity War will now be one stand-alone film, while the original release date for Infinity War Part II (May 3, 2019) has been reserved for an "untitled Avengers project" yet to be announced. At a cinematic level, I'm fascinated by seeing exactly how they make one of these mash-ups. I imagined using a 3:1 aspect ratio, with all the heroes clumped together like whales in a pod, moving in unison through every scene.

Looks awesome! There were so many cool things in this trailer.

I love what looks to be the Russos’ depiction of Pete’s Spider-Sense.

Isn’t this just an incomprehensible mash up of every Marvel super hero one by one? It really tells me very little about the upcoming movie.

It tells me that with this many characters there will probably be very little screen time for an actual plot (other than bad dude wants to destroy the world and good dudes stop him).

Why do Marvel movies get a pass on there obvious CGI fight scenes but, DC does not? Just asking, I didn't really enjoy JL but, it wasn't because of the CGI it was because of the weak script IMO. Just seen many online complaining about the JL CGI yet Marvel movies seem to get a pass.

Oh brother, what do you want?
It’s a comic book movie there’s going to be a ton of fights and destruction and you already know there’s going to be a lot of characters.
Have you seen the other movies?
Do you want just Iron man and captain America to fight Thanos?

That preview looks great.

I did see most of this in the Comic-Con leaked trailer, this one was a little different.

I guess I am becoming “super heroed out”. Yes I have seen ALL of the Marvel and DC movies in the theatre in 3D and often at least two times at home by the time I have watched the 3D disc and the flat disc with commentary. I sometimes think it would be fun say to watch all the Iron Man or Thor movies back to back, but I can never get around to it, because another one comes out that I have to watch first. They are becoming very routine. I am going to see this latest one, but pardon me if I can’t get wildly enthusiastic. There have been just too many “trips to the buffet”.

Maybe it's simply because a larger number of people find the CGI work in Marvel's films to be more convincing than DC's stuff? Just a theory. ;)

Some of the shots of Thanos almost look photorealistic, as in it almost looks like Josh Brolin in make-up. Impressive. I’d call that CGI well done. And they have over 4 months to refine.

Combine that with the fact that he’ll be an actual defined and complex character (Feige has been quoted as saying that “you could almost go so far as to say he is the main character”) and that's why people aren’t going to complain about him the way most have about one dimensional, rubber Steppenwolf.

Its a teaser trailer! There will be two or three more before the movie opens.

...and then two or three more when the sequel opens in 2019!

As for the amount of characters in this and what that means for the story, I suspect that there will be relatively separate “A” and “B” storylines (and probably a “C” as well) that tie into the main story. Similar to the story structure of The Lord of the Rings.

Actually, I believe one of the Russos or one of the writers (Markus and McFeely) did say something along the lines of the story having vignettes, but I don’t have the quote.

Obviously, there’s no guarantee with creative (and commercial) endeavors like this just because something that came before was done well. But to the worriers thinking it going to be just CGI and battles with nothing of substance, look at the artists crafting this movie. It has been written by the writers of Captain America The First Avenger, The Winter Soldier, and Civil War. And it is directed by the directors of The Winter Soldier and Civil War. Arguably some of Marvel’s best and arguably some of the best in the genre. Personal tastes vary, but this team of people have created high quality entertainment on multiple occasions. And everything that has been said about (and seen of) this project so far indicates that they are taking it very seriously and putting in a tremendous effort to give audience something good. Jeeze Louise, give them a little benefit of the doubt maybe?

Cool trailer. Obviously will screen with Last Jedi.

I loved the end with Thor's reaction to the arrival of the Guardians.

It's interesting to note that Thor maintains an eye patch as a result of Ragnarok. I suppose they expect most people have seen that now, as it (not to mention Loki and the Tesseract) would be considered spoilers for Ragnarok if you saw this trailer before seeing it.
