OK, Jardin Corona it is. I suggest 12 noon as a meeting time.

Anyone hear from Claude about whether or not he can host?

I plan on being there, too.

Do we have some sense of particular acoustic treatment topics? Have any of you built DIY bass trap(s) such as those described by John Risch?

Per your recommendation last week, the sig other and I went to Jardin Corona which was pretty good and cheap.

We are still on to host the crew on the 23rd. I can provide directions from Jardin Corona to my place at lunch.

    Looking forward to meeting everyone!!

Well, I won't be in town on the 23rd, so you guys have a blast. I already told Jonathan I wouldn't be able to attend when he dropped by near the end of the poker tournament, but methinks he's got something special brewing for the meet. You guys have a blast.

That was an amusing read, I think I'm at least as cynical as the author, but in a slightly different manner.

Who is bringing the projector Saturday? If we don't have one I can make printed copies for everyone, but then you won't get to see the pretty colors.

Also, this whole acoustics discussion will probably only take an hour, is there anything else anyone wants to do/talk talk about? If not, Claude may put us all to work on his room.

I been meaning to post here about the meet and I am really interested in learning more about room acoustics’ also [IMG] .

Since I am in the process of closing up my theater room,,, this will be a great meet to talk to the much more experienced ones about it all [IMG] .

As for Aug 23, it looks like a go so far. The only thing holding me back to say YES I will be there is there might be an posibable chance that my wife will have to work this Saturday [IMG] Yes thank you Dell Computers [IMG] (Not).

Anyways I will find out if my wife will have to work this weekend by Thursday night. I might ask my parents if they can watch the kids if so,,, and I think they will be cool with it (Thank Ma).

As lunch @ Jardin Corona,, that is some good stuff and it has expanded in size allot. There tortilla is awesome stuff.
    Not pricey also.

I will post back tomorrow night to let everyone know if I can make it or not.

Oh J-DA is there anything else anyone can bring t the meet that is not a PJ??

Add Mike Strubel to the list.

Dr. T, why only an hour? I thought you'd be taking lots of measurements, analyzing, and designing acoustic treatments. I want to observe and learn. Or, have you already done all that? If we need to get out of your customer's hair after an hour, we could go somewhere for discussions/seminar. You could show measurement graphs on a wall since we'll have a PJ. I'll offer my house - plenty of room. And we could possibly have an impromptu game of You-Know-What since I just bought a load of nice new chips. [IMG]

Hank, all the measurements and analysis have been done ahead of time. The simulations are too complex to do in real-time, you have to just leave the pc to churn for a few hours while it calculates everything. My plan is to do a powerpoint presentation showing the process and results. There is no need to leave early, I just don't think we'll have more than an hour or so of content in the presentation. I do have another little surprise that will occupy a little time, but not a lot. Someone earlier had offered to bring an X1, I'd like to see one if the offer still stands.

I can bring my Panny 300. Let me know and I'll find where I put that ever-elusive power cord. [IMG]

I'd love to see the L300 and the X1 side by side. I think pretty much they are the better end of a good projector in their price range. I plan on making it (short of any server issues at work).

Okay, by popular demand (i.e. Hank) I'll bring along my desktop machine that runs the acoustics simulations and we can play around with the actual models rather than everyone listening to me do a dry presentation. I've determined that if the model is simple enough, and we stick to a rectangular room with only two speakers then the calculations can be done in under 30 minutes. We'll still talk about Claude's room as well, just not in a formal presentation. This should be more interactive and interesting.

As host, I am excited to see the Panny L300 in it 'potentially native environment'. Is it on the very short list of projectors for the HT. We might have to make sure the sig-other gets to experience it, since she thinks the 57" RPTV is large enough - Nah, it can always be larger and/or louder!!

I have done some acoustic treatment work (pre-Jonathan) which we can share as part of the presentation, but there will be more required to tweek the sonic quality.

Everyone is welcome to hang out at the house until about 5:30pm. We are going to a neighborhood party starting at 6pm.

Mr. Luddite, I mean Mark, said he will bring along his Dalite Instatheater 2.8 gain screen and Sharp M20X (now down to $1900). If we can get the X1 we'll have a nice little budget projector comparison going.

Somebody want to give a brief condensed version of the plans for Saturday? Last I saw was meeting at 12 but that was a 'suggestion'. Something as in Where, When, and a physical street address and anything that we should bring. Thanks.

    Claude Parent,

Hey are you the one that came over to my house that one day to check out my Z1 w/ Jonathan?
The reason why I ask is I remember Jonathan's friend was getting an house out in Avery and was living out in Buttercup. I was just wondering. [IMG]

    ---------------------------->

I am still working out my schedule w/ my wife to see if I can attend. Since my wife is working both Sat and Sun,, I am still waiting to see if my mom will be willing to watch my kids so I can go.
Since everything is not so far,,, I think I can make it.

I hope to meet everyone again.

    Claude,

Typically we do not post our address and telephone numbers in an open forum such as this. It is just not a good idea. In the past, the host would send directions with contact information to Colin (our resident officiator of fesitivities) and he would put together a list of all of those that had left a RSVP for the meet. Then he would send a private email to just those people with the directions, etc. Those that did not RSVP and wanted to come at the last minute could meet us at the lunch spot (which we do give directions to, as well as the meeting time) and then would give out directions to those people.

Also, were you aware that they have opened up Cedar Park drive that goes all of the way out to Parmer. It would be a lot shorter to go that way and stay off of 620. Just a thought.

I am looking forward to seeing all of you on Saturday but I am going to have to leave around 3 PM as my daughter is having a birthday party starting at 4 PM at our house.
