I just picked up a copy of the TV series "Firefly" on DVD. I had been looking for a new fix for the wife and I to get addicted to, and this had gotten rave reviews from my friends.

Anyways, the region I'm in (Quebec), has most, if not all, DVD jackets in french. On the box, apparently the sound is in Dolby stereo, not 5.1. I was wondering if they are all like that, or do I get the shaft on the DD because of my region? I'd like to know before I open it, because otherwise I'll drive either to Ontario or NY to get a copy in surround. Thanks.

The region 1 release is not 5.1, it is 2.0 Surround. You did not get the shaft.

The thing you're missing is that the set is in Dolby Digital and the packaging is quite correct, you just have to read it carefully, the printing reads "Dolby Digital soundtracks contain [UP TO] 5.1 channels of discrete audio."

Remember, there's a difference between Dolby Digital and Dolby Surround.

Oh, Best Buy has the Firefly set on sale for $33. Check out their website.
