yep, like any new technology (such as color) it takes time for filmmakers to fully utilize it.
so i'm not surprised, even though color 2strip was as early as the 1920s and 1910s as experiments, it didn't get mass adoption til the 50s+60s and that was only due to the competition from television.
in today's age there is already so much competition (like video games & other competing entertainment interests) hdr adoption will only accelerate vs. waiting decades.
