Here’s one I had never heard before. A friend asked me what might be causing sound distortion during bright scenes in DVD playback. It’s a low end set up, just a DVD straight to TV. He said during very bright scenes he gets a loud hum that goes away when the scene turns dark. He also says this does NOT happen when watching cable. Any ideas? Thanks.

Wade- I'm not a tech but I do recall a simular problem which could more accruately be described as a "buzz" when encountering bright scenes. Video gain maybe? Have your friend try decreasing contrast and brightness on his TV.
