Does anyone know the difference (if there is one) between these two Creative sound cards? I'm looking for a kickass sound card under $100 that does 5.1 decoding. I have PowerDVD 4.0 XP full-version which i believe does its own decoding. Which card should I get? Is one newer? Thanks!

I might be wrong, but I believe the X-Gamer has the front loaded bay controller and the "gamer" is just a plug in card.
I just ordered the X-Gamer myself. Should be on my doorstep this afternoon [IMG]
I'll post a review when I get things going 100%

    Sorry, I kind of mis-informed.

The Audigy XGamer is a sound card only and roughly retails for $85. It receives very high marks.

The Audigy Platinum is the bay loaded controller with sound card. It retails for about $170. It also get's great reviews. This is the card / controller I opted for. Pricey but hey, you only live once.
