EDIT: Thanks to the moderator who moved this thread to the correct forum.
Let me start off by saying that I know there is a similar thread on the SD DVD forum. However, I don't want to clog that thread up with a Blu-ray centered post. Also, I didn't see a similar thread here on this board, but if this is redundant I apologize in advance.
I'm making this thread because I know that Warner representatives do read this forum to get some feel for what releases may have a buying audience. I also know that Warner is unlikely to release any non A-list catalog titles, especially as we get to the 1970s and earlier, for a variety of reasons, from having HD ready materials to simple cost-to-profit ratio. So my list will only include a few such films no matter how much I'd like to see more (gotta keep it realistic). I also won't list titles already announced that I will gladly purchase, such as Ben-Hur, Gone with the Wind, etc.
That being said, of my 85 BD titles I own, a full 25% (28) are Warner releases, with 13 of those being catalog titles over 10 years old.
So, here's what I would purchase:
Titles I already own on DVD and would purchase again on BD:
Amadeus (preferably with both cuts of the film)
Barry Lyndon
Bringing Up Baby
Captain Blood
Citizen Kane
Contact
Dial M for Murder (if possible, with alternate 3-D version)
Doctor Zhivago (1965)
Empire of the Sun
Giant
The Goonies
The Green Mile
The Iron Giant
JFK (with both cuts if possible, though I'd rather have the Director's Cut)
King Kong (1933)
Lolita (1962)
Malcolm X
Maverick (1994)
The Mission
Mystic River
Pee-wee's Big Adventure
Rebel Without a Cause
The Sea Hawk
Singin' in the Rain
Strangers on a Train
THX 1138 (would like both versions of this film, but I know Lucas won't allow the original to be released; good thing I like the new cut more)
Titles I do not own on DVD because I'm holding out for BD:
All the President's Men
Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker (Uncut)
Batman: Mask of the Phantasm
Before Sunrise
Before Sunset
The Big Sleep
The Magnificent Ambersons (please release on BD when the eventual DVD comes out!)
Matchstick Men
McCabe & Mrs. Miller
Network
The Outsiders (both cuts if possible)
Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid
A Perfect World
Poltergeist
Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (both cuts)
Ryan's Daughter
Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (both aspect ratio versions of the film)
Stagecoach
White Hunter, Black Heart
Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?
Hope this gets the attention of someone with influence!
