I know that there are 2 DVD releases of Attack Of The Killer Tomatoes but I would like to know if these releases are open-matte or pan & scan because most places list the DVD as being fullscreen.

Dont mention IMDB because they don't have the aspect ratio for this movie listed in the technical specs. IMDB does list the movie as 1.33:1 pan & scan in the DVD details but I don't completely trust IMDB because they are wrong at times.

For a low budget film, it's probably open matte.

On the original VHS tape from Media Home Entertainment, you can see the board with wheels that the big tomato in the parking lot is riding on. On the DVD it's cropped out.
BTW my audio holy grail is a complete uncut recording of the song "Puberty Love", wonder if it exists anywhere?

Wasn't this shot in 16mm? If so, full frame would be correct.

Actually Jesse, I bought this at Best Buy because it had a Best Buy Exclusive which is a 6 song CD soundtrack of Attack of the Killer Tomatoes. It comes in an oversized box which holds the DVD, a fold out movie poster, the usual DVD booklet and the CD in a cardboard sleeve. I imagine you could still find a copy of it since it's only been out for a short while.

    Russ

P.S. in case you are wondering Puberty Love is only about 46 seconds long so I guess that's as complete a version as you're gonna get.

In my mini review of this title here I discuss my observations (and disgust) with this Rhino release.

What cut of the film is on this disc? The theatrical version, or the so called Director's Cut that was released on VHS a while ago?

Well, since it looks like Attack Of The Killer Tomatoes is pan & scan then I won't buy it. I'm iffy on open matte but pan & scan is bad.

I don´t believe that the movie was shot in 35mm. RETURN was, but ATTACK? No way.
So, I guess open matte is the correct ratio.

Why would they lie abotu somethign liek that? They may have shot it on low-grade 35mm that didn't look any better than 16mm, but it was 35mm.
