If that is the actual cover art to be used, it is completely boring. I should add...That is not the original theatrical poster art is it? The theatrical poster was a large "A" done in a Roman style script wasn't it? I would rather see that used as the cover than the generic piece of art they have chosen here.

I can't believe this. When I connected to the internet about 30 min ago, the first thing I was looking for was an Atlantis image that I could use to update the old image I had on my site.
    Thanks

Here's the cover to the VHS tape, which should be the same as the regular non-collector's edition single disk DVD, which streets on the same date.

Heehee, now that's just silly. Putting pictures of the characters in front of it like that...hahahaha.

I am thinking that may change. With their CEs, Disney have a habit of putting out preliminary artwork then providing something much nicer come time of the finished product (Emperor's New Groover being good example of this).

I am willing to bet that these will be the 2 covers used. The CE version is always more "classic" "simple" etc than the regular version which has the characters on it.

    Today on DVDFile:
Just in from Buena Vista are specs for a number of their early 2001 releases. First up is the ill-fated Atlantis: The Lost Empire, in not one but two versions, both due on 1/29. The standard edition lists for $29.95 features THX-certified 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen and full frame versions, an English 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround EX track, audio commentary with directors Gary Trousdale and Kirk Wise, the deleted "Viking Prologue" scene, a "How to speak Atlantean" Disneypedia, virtual tours of two CG models, and the trailer. The $39.95 two-disc thingee includes all of the above features plus a DTS 5.1 track and the usual two-disc Disney super-duper extras including a "Visual Commentary," a "Whitmore Industries" industrial film, and five extensive sections of new making-of and behind the scenes footage including "History," "Story and editorial," "Art direction," and "Character designs," plus a publicity materials section including a still gallery, trailers and TV spots.

I've consistently picked up and been pleased with the CE Versions of all of Disney's recent releases.

Just thought you might be interested to know that the Atlantis Collector's Edition has a preview for the upcoming Beauty & The Beast DVD.

Also, for you fans of the direct-to-video animated sequels, there is a promo for the upcoming 101 Dalmatians sequel and a flyer with an advertisement for an upcoming sequel to Atlantis.

These may also be with the single disk Atlantis DVD, but I'm not sure. I only purchased the Collector's Edition.

Well, David, chances are that if you have any other Disney DVDs from last year, there's probably an Atlantis trailer on those. It sucks, but I'll always go for Disney's Collector's Editions so it doesn't phase me too much....in fact it sort of makes me feel like I'm getting more bang for the buck. [IMG]
Also, worth mentioning, is that the non-CE versions of Toy Story & TS2 and Fantasia & Fantasia 2000 all are missing the trailers. The 1-disc A Bug's Life is, as far as I know, as well. Not sure about Emperor's New Groove or Dinosaur's CE.
