Folks, Be aware there is a particularly nasty issue with the ATI CATALYST Windows display drivers when you are running Cyberlink's PowerDVD XP 4.0 DVD playback program. If you have hardware acceleration in PowerDVD XP 4.0 enabled, the problem manifests itself in PowerDVD in the follow manner: 1. Video playback has frequently wash-out colors there is severe motion stuttering during playback. 2. The display of subtitles does not work. When you disable hardware acceleration in PowerDVD XP 4.0, the display problems I mentioned does not manifest itself, though (IMHO) is would negate one of the ATI graphics card advantages, namely hardware acceleration for decoging MPEG-2 video from a DVD so CPU cycle usage is lower. Both ATI and Cyberlink are well-aware of the problem, and we may see a new version of the CATALYST driver and/or a patch file available from Cyberlink soon to correct the problems I mentioned. It should be noted that pre-CATALYST Radeon display drivers do not exhibit this problem.
